Terms of service

Network participation agreement version 2026.1.

1. The service

CaRR provides customer verification, rental-history records and rental-risk assessments to vehicle rental companies ("Providers"). CaRR is not a Credit Reference Bureau and its scores are not credit scores. A CaRR score is a decision-support tool; Providers remain responsible for their own rental decisions.

2. Provider obligations

• Obtain and record the customer's informed consent before every CaRR check.
• Only record accurate, factual rental events. Adverse records must be supported by evidence and must never be used as a "blacklist".
• Review incident reports promptly, and confirm serious allegations only with supporting evidence and independent review.
• Respond to customer disputes fairly, within a reasonable time, and correct inaccurate records.
• Keep user accounts and API keys secure, and grant staff the minimum role they need.

3. Network participation

Providers approved for the CaRR network contribute rental events and may view privacy-filtered summaries of other Providers' records. CaRR may suspend network access for misuse, including unfounded adverse records or checks without consent.

4. Subscriptions

Plans include a monthly allowance of CaRR checks. Additional checks are billed at the plan's overage rate where available. Trial accounts are limited to the trial allowance.

5. Data protection

Both CaRR and Providers must process personal data lawfully, securely and only for vehicle-rental risk purposes, as described in the Privacy notice.
